Our Story

Mountthrill is a Himalayan trekking company based in Uttarakhand, founded in 2022 by people who were already living and working in these mountains.

We didn't start with a business plan. We started with a backpack, a mountain trail, and a job that happened to be in the Himalayas. Trekking wasn't the plan — it became one, trek by trek.

Origins

How It Started

In 2022, the mountains were simply where we worked. But every route brought something we didn't expect: villagers who became friends, settlements older than the roads leading to them, and the kind of quiet that changes how you think about your own life.

Somewhere between early starts, long trails, and campfire conversations, the job turned into a purpose. The Himalayas stopped being a workplace. They became home.

Our Purpose

Why We Started Mountthrill

The more we trekked across Uttarakhand, the more we noticed a pattern: most trekking experiences had turned into a checklist. Large batches. Fixed schedules. Summit, photo, descend, repeat.

Trekkers reached the top without ever meeting the mountains — or the people who live in them.

We didn't think that was good enough for the Himalayas, and we didn't think trekkers deserved it either. Mountthrill exists to do the opposite: fewer people per group, more time on the trail, and guides who know these routes because they grew up on them — not because they memorized a script.

The Mountthrill Standard

What We Do Differently

What most trekking companies optimize forWhat Mountthrill optimizes for
Maximum group size (25+ trekkers per batch)
Small groups, better pace and safety margin (8–12 max)
Fixed, one-size-fits-all itineraries
Local knowledge and route judgment on the ground
Fastest possible turnover (Summit, photo, descend, repeat)
Journeys people actually remember & absorb
National-level agents booking local trips
Local guides, homestays, and transport partners from Uttarakhand

This isn't a slogan — it's how every itinerary, from a Kedarkantha weekend trek or camping and backpacking trips to a Char Dham Yatra and Kedarnath and Badrinath journey, gets planned.

Local Roots

Built With the Himalayas, Built For People

Uttarakhand is home, not a destination we operate in from a distance. Our guides lead treks on trails they grew up walking. We work directly with local homestays, transport partners, and village communities rather than routing everything through outside vendors.

When you trek with Mountthrill, the money you spend supports the same people and villages who keep these trails alive — practicing responsible, low-impact travel that stays within the local ecosystem, not just a booking platform.

Looking Ahead

Where We're Headed

Mountthrill is still a young company, and we're not trying to hide that. We're adding new routes, working with more village communities, designing customized outdoor programs for colleges and corporate groups, and learning from every batch we take out.

What won't change:

We'll pick a meaningful trek over a crowded one, an honest answer over a sales pitch, and a real connection with the mountains over a transaction — every time.

Journey with MonkTrekker

Once a month, MonkTrekker personally leads one small-group Himalayan journey — not a standard package, but a route chosen for what it teaches, not just where it goes. Expect backpacking over marked trails, unscheduled stops in villages most itineraries skip, campfire conversations that run late, and a pace built for actually being there, not just getting through it.
